Activities
It is
hard to believe but Fernie's mountains may have more to
offer in the Summer months than during Winter! After the snow
melts, the flowers bloom, the grass turns green and
opportunities to explore Fernie's high country abound. Take a leisurely stroll through the forest
to enjoy our beautiful mountains, or go on a fly
fishing excursion to one of our many trout filled rivers and
streams.
Better yet if mountain biking is your deal head out to the
trails... there are too many
single track trails to name (and we can't give up all our
secrets).
For those of you looking to increase the
length of your drive off the tee, you have come to the right
place! x excellent golf courses are located in the
valley. Each
course has exceptional scenery, and plenty of challenging
holes as would be expected in this high alpine environment. |

Whether you're looking for walk-and-wade

One of the first things you notice upon
arriving in Fernie is the emerald water of the Elk River. The
Elk and its many tributaries offer a world class mecca for fly
fisherman and the backcountry offers some great alpine lakes
for the float tube enthusiast. Enjoy excellent fishing for a
variety of species from Bass to Brook, Rainbows, and Cutthroat
Trout.

Golf Courses:
The Fernie Golf & Country club was
opened in 1918. Noted for it's majestic mountain setting and
playability, this golf course has something to offer for both
the low handicap player and beginner alike. With luscious
greens, silica sand bunkers, varied terrain and a stunning
view of the Rocky Mountains the golf course is a players
dream. The course is a par 70, and is 6,556 yards long. Rated
in the top 25 of BC's courses you won't want to miss this one
on your next golf getaway!

Fernie
Alpine Resort Explore the mountain
by foot or take in the views on a scenic ride up the chairlift
to mid-mountain. Guided interpretive hikes including Birding
and Beyond, Fernie Folklore and Bear Necessities are available
or explore the interpretive trail on your own on a self-guided
